I challenge any scientist, educator, business person, celebrity, politician, astrologer, physicist - anyone actually - to explain to me how life can work for life itself - for every human being and the earth - without each of us placing conditions on our expression and demands.
One Earth One Body Program is a unique program that combines philosophy, prayer, mindfulness practices and physical movement. The session format sees students begin by discussing themes centred on spirituality in the human experience.
They explore life through the eyes of an individual whose most sacred role and purpose is to be a guardian and custodian of humanity and the planet. A small self within a greater self. They will explore concepts such as love, sacrifice and service as they come to understand the importance of honouring our world through actions, rather than words. As each movement component begins students will experience periods of mediation and silence increasing in time as the program continues. The movement is fluid, graceful and sometimes dynamic.
They learn to consider their bodies as sacred as they begin making choices about what movements are right for them and those that are outside their limitations. The movement is not focused on success, failure, potential or achievement. Rather it focuses on celebrating everyone where they are at and being able to make decisions that keep their bodies sacred, despite peer pressure to do otherwise. This is done to mirror occasions in the future when they may encounter pressure to indulge in risky behaviours they may not feel ready for, or may not feel are right for them. They also learn to be expressive and proud just as they are, rather than their expression being dependent on them being highly competent or talented in a particular skill or area.
The students move in relative silence. Learning to treat their bodies with care even when engaged in athletic and dynamic movement. The movement has a low impact focus to encourage a similar tread upon the earth - not being harmful and aggressive because you can, but rather, having the strength and compassion to be gentle on others and our earth. Sessions close with a non-denominational prayer which sees students honour themselves exactly as they are, and gently commit to becoming a caretaker of our world, while acknowledging with grace and humility that perfection will not be a part of this experience. They do this in a manner personal to them.
The program themes include: Caring for our earth. Treating others with respect. Positive Body Image. Embracing and celebrating flaws and imperfections. True kindness and humility. Physical movement. Mental health. Mindfulness and meditation. Honouring all life as sacred. Reconciliation with our humanity. Being mindful of our own expression and impact on the world. Learning how to say ‘no’. Self-esteem and self-confidence without needing to change a thing. Making sense of life.
The One Earth One Body program can also be experienced without the movement component and its themes can presented in a variety of forms.
